LESSONS

School year at the VARTABEDIAN PIANO STUDIO begins in late August and ends in early June (calendar variations from one year to another). There are 38 regular lessons, held weekly, with a break for winter holidays. Lesson duration is 45 minutes or 60 minutes; with 75 and 90-minute lessons recommended for advanced students from Grade 7 piano. Additional theory, harmony, and music history lessons are also offered.

GENERAL POLICIES

Dr. Vladikovic provides outstanding instruction covering a wide spectrum of musical interests. Lessons offer an up to date, cosmopolitan, creative, and holistic approach. They are designed to foster students’ love for music, motivate them to perform to the best of their ability, apply their musical skills in other areas of study, and enhance their intellectual development.

Students are encouraged to participate in yearly Royal Conservatory Music Certificate Program assessments, an international music assessment program. The Studio also provides preparatory classes for university/graduate entrance auditions and exams. Students wishing to take these exams are required to notify the instructor at the beginning of the school year.

Highly flexible approach allows for personalized, custom designed program, based on student's needs, interests and level. Materials are chosen at the instructor's discretion to match the level of student's development and to enhance further progress. Students participate in the program selection and may reject any pieces they do not enjoy. We welcome students' input and initiative as that enhances motivation, fosters responsibility, and develops their self-esteem.

Parents are welcome to observe their child's lessons, and are required to attend in the case of a young beginner. Parental input and co-operation are invaluable and facilitate faster development of a young musician.

Students are encouraged to perform in student recitals and gain self-confidence through the performing experience. However, participation is not mandatory. In addition to student recitals, students can participate in young artist, piano, and other competitions in and out of state, and advanced students are encouraged to attend summer specialization programs in the US and Europe.students are encouraged to perform and gain self-confidence through the performing experience.
